Cool WinMo App of the Day - Microsoft My Phone

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but with the release of Microsoft’s Marketplace I have discovered a couple of neat little apps. The coolest by far is Microsoft’s My Phone app which is a little program that allows you to sync your phone’s data to a website for back up and management.

You have to have a Live ID to use it, but once installed you get to pick which items you want to sync with the website. I’ve played with a bunch of different settings but have settled on synching my photos, calendar and contacts but you can sync text messages, videos, music, and documents as well.

Once the first sync completes, you can use your computer to sign on to the MyPhone website and manage your data. My favorite features so far are the ability to send multiple photos to Facebook instead of having to upload them one by one via the Facebook app on my phone OR having to dig up my USB cable to transfer them to my computer. The calendar features are basic but let you find duplicate entries which is always nice.

The free version gives you 200 MB of storage space and lets you sync everything listed above and in the screen shots. Premium options (which you can trial for 60 days) will cost $4.99 per use but gives you some nice recovery options including a remote wipe command!
