The last 6 months …

Well, it’s been 6 months since I’ve posted anything and even longer since I’ve been truly active on twitter which means I’ve missed A LOT tech news wise. (Like the fact that the never confirmed Microsoft Courier project being scrapped?!) But more importantly, I’ve missed/neglected your comments. So for that I apologize.

For those of you who commented and tweeted for a Ceedo Personal license over the past few months, "I'm sorry it took so long!" I should be all caught up now so please @reply me on twitter or email me - rutheraves {at} gmail DOT com if you didn't receive a license yet and I'll get back to you this week.

These past few months have been really hectic for me, mainly because I started a new job which of course took a few weeks to get settled into. Then, I fell into my old workaholic rut of trying to do too much and not ever disconnecting from the office. That’s the problem with all this great tech sometimes: it’s too easy to stay connected 24/7 and if you don’t keep a handle on it you can burn out very quickly. Which is what was happening to me. For a couple of months I was literally working every waking moment – from waking up and answering emails on my phone to sitting on the couch and answering tickets on my laptop when I was supposed to be watching TV. And, (this I think is the true sign of a workaholic) doing all of this without being asked to or without compensation.

I KNOW I’m not alone – there are tons of us with our smartphones seemingly surgically implanted in our hands. But, for me, when I’m starting to be exhausted as soon as I wake up, needing to check weather.com to find out if the sun was out today, and not eating regularly/healthily anymore something’s got to give. So I’ve made it a goal to be disconnected from work at LEAST 1 of my 2 days off – which means I won’t be syncing my work email to my personal cell phone anymore and I can spend some time reading about and trying out some cool tech again. And now that summer’s here, maybe I can do some exploring and get some sun too!

I'll also try to do at least weekly posts. I've been using an iphone for work and enjoying the Omnia 2 (my personal phone) so I've got a few cool apps and comparisons to share too.
