"What a lively book cutting across a 50 year span of small town life in Middle America. It's an engrossing memoir of one man's journey from boyhood through 33 years in public education. Gil Newton tells it like it is now and what it was like then in meeting challenges of education the youth of your country. Don's miss the THEY/NOW comparisons at the end of the book". S. G.; Frisco, TX
"I thoroughly enjoyed reading Gil's book (sic.). He certainly was and is a dedicated educator and truly a credit to the teaching profession. The book was quite entertaining and I found myself chuckling. As an educator I could relate to the various educational and social movements/trends that have occurred over the past 30+ years and agree with his assessment of the major problems facing schools today. I believe he has some very viable suggestions for turning things around and I like the fact that he is not "mincing words" to get his point across. L. B.; West Lafayette, IN
The first part of the book is truly entertaining......He is refreshingly honest about some the teachers and students. The last part of the book was absolutely brilliant.
Gil Newton is a great advocate of putting educating the children above political correctness. Hope his book is read by a great many people. P. S.; Rossville, IN

The Glass School House Public Education in America Then and Now eBook Gil Wayne Newton Reviews
This book will bring back many memories of education in the 1950's and 1960's before the politicians and bureaucrats got their grubby hands on the public school system in the U.S. It is an enjoyable read and an excellent overview of how our public schools got into the miserable shape a lot of them are in today.
